Bhagavan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri was widely considered an avadhuta. This Sanskrit term refers to a rare spiritual state in which a person is fully absorbed in a transcendental, non-dual consciousness and is unconcerned with worldly matters, ego, and social conventions. Considered in India a modern day Saint.
