The revered Indian saint, Sri Anandamayi Ma, was born on this day in 1896. Paramahansa Yogananda’s encounter with her in India in 1935 is described in Autobiography of a Yogi in the chapter “The Bengali ‘Joy-Permeated Mother.’”
