Amitābha (Sanskrit: "Limitless Light"),

Also known as Amitāyus ("Limitless Life"), is a celestial Buddha celebrated across East Asian and Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Originally a monk named Dharmakara, he vowed to create a realm of perfect peace and enlightenment: Sukhāvatī, the Western Pure Land, where beings could be reborn through sincere faith and invocation of his name.
