A visitor: I don’t know what Kundalini is.

A visitor: I don’t know what Kundalini is.

Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi: Kundalini is one name given by the Yogic[2] people for what may be called the Atma Sakti[3] inside the body. The Vichara school[4] calls the same power, Jnana[5]. The Bhakta[6] calls it Prema[7a] or Bhakti[7b]. The Yogic school[8] says that this Power is dormant in Muladhara[9] at the base of the spinal cord, and that it must be aroused, and taken through the various chakras[9] on to Sahasrara[9] at the top, in the brain, to attain Moksha[10]. The Jnanis[11] think this Power is centred in the heart, and so on. [1] Image source: http://davidgodman.org/gen2/p/ramana/who-am-i/who-am-i.html [2] Focusing the mind on the Absolute in order to connect to the Absolute, is known as Dhyana. The path of Dhyana is called Yoga. There are four ways to attain Dhyana: + Path of Love, which is known as Bhakti Yoga. + Path of Knowledge, which is known as Jnana Yoga. + Path of Service, which is known as Karma Yoga. + Path of Meditation, which is known as Raja Yoga.

Hence there are many ways to realise the Absolute. [3] Power of the Absolute. [4] A school that is based on the principles of Jnana Yoga[2]. [5] True Knowledge. Knowledge of the Absolute.
