– Siddhartha, Hermann Hesse

Patience is mastering the skill of waiting. Waiting requires mastery of thought. You see ego wants what it wants and wants it now. If it does not get what it wants we are punished by frustration. Frustration is a painful emotion. It is this dynamic that makes waiting so difficult for many of us. If you can master thought and internal dialog then you can easily learn to wait.

“What can you do O Siddhartha? I can think, I can wait. I can fast.”
