But awareness says, “I know that I don’t know.”
The first is darkness; the second is light seeing the darkness.
Maharshi points to that light of knowing — the awareness which witnesses even ignorance.
- That ‘knowing’ is the Self — ever-present, untouched, pure.
You may not know scriptures, philosophies, or the secrets of the universe, but you know that you don’t know. This knowing is not a thought — it is the very 'consciousness' in which all thoughts arise.
