It is evident that the search for oneself starts with the assumption that one is looking for something, for a ‘little man’ within us, for an entity - however hidden. What one discovers, however, is that there is no ‘thing’ of this type: there is only silence, absence, emptiness. This is why “studying oneself is forgetting oneself”.
