Whenever the waves of the mind are made tranquil, knowledge of the Self is revealed. This it was that Christ meant when he said: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God/' The subdual of the waves that would possess the mind is not a superficial process, nor a momentary one, but a complete transformation. It is a change that can be achieved by yogic discipline. Doubtless St. Paul referred to this kind of restraint when he said, "Be ye transformed by the renewal of your own mind."
