The search for truth is life; the realization of truth is illumination; the practice of truth is virtue. Every man reflecting upon truth while imprisoned in the darkness of ignorance is a philosopher searching for reality, even though limited by the inadequacy of environment. Literature is made up of the thoughts of the imprisoned.

Wealth, therefore, impoverishes man, deprives him of time, absorbs his interests, depletes his strength, and leaves him incapable of becoming wise. In all things involving the acquirement of knowledge, the Ancient Wisdom says, “First purify your own life.
We must study quietly, seeking not easy ways and shortcuts, but a vital philosophy that can inspire and lead us to greater efforts in the perfection of ourselves. Symbolism is the language of the Mysteries, and all Nature, for every law and power active is manifested through the medium of symbol, to communicate thoughts, which transcend the limitations of language.
Every soul is engaged in a great work - the labor of personal liberation from the state of ignorance. The world is a great prison; its bars are the Unknown. And each is a prisoner until, at last, he earns the right to tear these bars from their moldering sockets, and pass, illuminated and inspired, into the darkness, which becomes lighted by that presence.
We can only escape from the world by outgrowing the world. Death may take man out of the world but only wisdom can take the world out of the man. As long as the human being is obsessed by worldliness, he will suffer from the Karmic consequences of false allegiances. When however, worldliness is transmuted into Spiritual Integrity he is free, even though he still dwells physically among worldly things.
