We have no hope of ending suffering—personal or global—until we understand what suffering really is, at the most fundamental level. And when we truly understand suffering, we may discover that true freedom is found not through escaping present experience, but by diving fearlessly into its hidden depths. In there, perhaps, we will discover all the peace, love, and deep acceptance that we were always seeking “out there.”
