Sri Ramana Maharshi

One takes the body to be oneself, hence, one treats others as bodies. At first, this seems reasonable and obvious but look deeply and contemplate this matter. These so-called bodies, minds, good and bad actions; beyond what is solely perceptual, where do they exist? Enquiring within, they cannot be found. They appear externally through a conditioned reflex of perceptions and thoughts, but beyond this, at a foundational level, nothing can be found. Attention fixated externally sees this shallow, separate, conflict-ridden world of perception. But attention turned inward apperceives the indescribable nature of what we are all. —
