Brahman (Sanskrit: ब्रह्मन्), (Hindi: ब्रह्म) connotes the highest Universal Principle, the Ultimate Reality in the universe, all pervading, eternal and nondual.
The word Brahman means Vast.
Loosely translated the word Brahman can also mean God.
The Upanishads define Brahman as
Reality Knowledge Infinite is Brahman Or Existence Consciousness Infinite is Brahman.
The Upanishads declare -
The knower of Brahman attains the highest
Which raises 3 questions
- What is Brahman?
- How does one know Brahman?
- What is the highest that is attained?
Swami Sarvapriyananada in this lecture introduces the concept or definition of Brahman i.e What is Brahman? Or Definition of God.
